Slovak motorway signage shows some clear similarities with its Western neighbour and former Czechoslovakian counterpart, the Czech Republic. But the two now independent nations have also clearly gone their own way with, for one, different fonts. Overhead signage is particularly prominent on the Slovak motorways, but that may have to do with the fact that most of the motorways currently existing are situated in the urban area around Bratislava. In any event, exit signage starts with an announcment sign with the name of the exit and the distance, then a fork sign showing directions for the exit and the road ahead and then an overhead ID sign. A reassurance sign is placed after the exit.
