Latvian motorway signage shows some clear similarities with the other Baltic countries and the former Soviet Union generally, even though the signs here are clearly in a better shape than elsewhere in the former USSR. The Latvian motorway netwerk is still largely under construction, so it is hard at this stage to draw a clear line as to how motorway exits are signposted. Also, something like exit numbering is not feasible yet in such a developing network. For now, exit signage appears to start with a fork sign at 500 meters from the exit. The fork sign gives all directions of the exit straight away. A simple ID sign showing the focals of the exit and distances to these towns does the rest. A reassurance sign is placed after the exit.
