Italy

First approach sign in Italy is a very small one. To add to the problem, it is often placed as close to the exit as 700 meters (particularly tricky given the high speeds that are usual on Italy's motorways). The first sign shows the name of the exit only and the control city. If you can reach a provincial capital via the exit, that town is also signposted in blue (as is the case here with Bergamo). Likewise, you may find objects like a police station or an Interporto signposted on the first approach sign. Each of these will return on the ID sign. In between is a sign showing some other towns that can be reached via this exit. No exit number yet in Italy.
